It’s taken a long time, but I’m finally AI-pilled. I’ve finally realized that there are simply things that AI is much better at doing than me. Lots of people don’t like to admit this but it’s becoming more and more true each day. While there are still certain topics and pieces of information I know more than AI about, this corpus of information is quickly disappearing.
One of the most common reasons why most people don’t want to relinquish control to AI is ego and for good reason; it’s a hard pill to swallow that AI might be better than you at your job.
While your job is one area, what about every other area of knowledge? I might know more about coding or architectural decisions in specific scenarios than AI, but am I really going to say the same for American history, space, or finding a deal on Facebook Marketplace? No, I’m not and you shouldn’t either.
Learning how to leverage AI properly can make you orders of magnitude more productive and being more productive can you help you achieve your goals more quickly. This has been the most helpful reframe for myself. The job of software engineering has forever changed and I shouldn’t keep my identity attached to something that once was.
Instead we should focus on achieving our goals. I shouldn’t be lamenting the fact that I lost a job title, I should be celebrating the fact that I have a faster path to reach what I’m really after in life.
With this acceptance I was able to leverage AI to help me create a marketing funnel and email sequence in a single night last week. With a handful of back and forth discussions and a little bit less sleep than I’m used to, I woke up to ads for my product, Ferryman.io, running on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and Google. I’m not a marketing guru, I don’t understand ad platforms, and I’ve never run a successful marketing campaign with ads, but all thanks to AI I’m now trying to.
